Cryptography and machine learning are mostly diametrically opposed fields. Whereas machine learning aims to infer information from data, cryptography aims to limit the amount of inferences we can make. In this talk, Victor Sint Nicolaas, co-founder of summitto, will take a deep dive into these two opposing ways in which the 50 billion EUR VAT fraud problem can be solved. After a brief investigation into zero knowledge proofs, a light will be shined on whether there is any use for machine learning in a secure and private world.
