Evolutionary computing has developed from a weird idea to a well established technology in the 20th century. Evolutionary computing experts and practitioners have learned the know-how and can use this technology in a variety of areas. In this lecture I will briefly review the progress made in the last three decades and make a bold prediction concerning the Next Big Thing(s).
